Lonnie Franklin Jr. was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday for 10 murder charges and one other charge of attempted murder. However, there was a change of public defenders, and the arraignment was continued.
The new date was set for Aug. 23.
The 57-year-old car mechanic from South L.A. was arrested on July 7 after DNA evidence linked him to the murders of 10 black women over a 22-year period.
Franklin's attorney expects his client to enter a not-guilty plea.
Authorities dubbed the suspect the "/*Grim Sleeper*/" because he took a 14-year hiatus in his crimes after 1988. The suspect killed again in 2002 and 2003, and he last struck on New Year's Day in 2007.
