Sand Dune Park to reopen with stricter rules

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. The towering sand dune had become a magnet for fitness buffs and partiers.

The city closed the park last summer after neighbors complained about the noise and crowds.

Now, you'll need an advance reservation, and it will cost you $3.50 for a one-hour visit. A yearlong pass will cost $60.

Also, city officials plan to limit the number of people on the dune to 20 at any given time to help reduce erosion.

The 100-foot-tall sand dune is a great place to work out or take in the view of downtown Los Angeles.

The park reopens on Monday.
