Plane crashes into northern Phoenix building

PHOENIX According to reports from the scene, witnesses say it looked like the pilot was trying to land.

A helicopter pilot for a Phoenix TV station said he saw the plane crash around 6 a.m. The single-engine plane crashed into a building in an industrial complex near the airport.

Bright, orange flames and clouds of smoke were pouring from the wreckage, but fire crews quickly extinguished the flames. All that was left of the plane was a bundle of charred and blackened metal.
