A pygmy hippo calf made her public debut Thursday at Sydney, Australia's Taronga Zoo.The calf's name is Kambiri, a Nigerian name that means "allow me to join this family."

People hoping to get a glimpse of the little one are asked to have patience. Zookeepers said she is very shy, sleeps a lot and only comes out for short periods in the early morning.

Pygmy hippos are an endangered species, with less than 3,000 believed to be left in the wild.
