Surfers gear up for U.S. Open Surfing finals

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. Surfers were seen practicing in the water early Thursday morning.

The surfing finals will take place this weekend. More than a total of 300 surfers are hitting the waves, with the winner taking home a $300,000 prize.

There will not only be surfing competitions, but also skateboarding courses set up on the beach.

Justin Brock, skateboarder, will be taking part in a skateboarding competition called the "bowl contest."

"The bowl contest is put on by Coastal Carnage and the U.S. Open. It's not like a vert ramp or anything. It's back and forth and you can be as creative as you want to. It's good times," said Brock.

The bowl contest starts Saturday at 12 p.m.
