Stuck base jumper gets arrested after rescue

MOUNT VERNON, Wash.

Eldon Burrier called police late Monday night, but rescuers couldn't reach him until first light the next day.

Burrier: "I'm hanging on a cliff. My parachute is hanging on a rock on the side of the cliff. I'm just kind of hanging here."

Dispatcher: "Do you have a back-up parachute on?"

Burrier: "No. I'm just hanging from a rock with my strings right now. When it breaks, I'm dead."

Rescuers had to use ropes and pulleys to get him off the cliff in a remote area of Skagit County.

The jumper refused medical attention.

After he was rescued, authorities realized there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest for an illegal jump off a bridge, so they arrested him.
