O.C.'s Airport makes 'scariest' airports list

SANTA ANA, Calif. The site said that passengers are often scared when taking off from the airport because of its steeper-than-normal take-off procedures.

In order to reduce noise, many of the planes taking off at John Wayne are forced to use a sharp incline and reduce their thrust above noise-monitoring stations.

Some passengers have reported being startled by the take-off practice and even thought the engines had died.
