OC trial begins for frozen-daughter dad

SANTA ANA, Calif. During opening statements, prosecutors told members of the jury that in 2006, 57-year-old Clarence Butterfield shot his 21-year-old Rebekah Butterfield several times then stuffed her into a freezer in his recreational vehicle.

Authorities say Rebekah Butterfield was still alive when she was put into the freezer.

The defense insists that Butterfield came home to find his daughter dead and put her in a freezer because he thought no one would believe him.

Her body was discovered in 2008 by tow yard workers in San Clemente.

If convicted, Butterfield could face life in prison.
