BUFFALO, N.Y. --
Police said they found a cat that was marinating in the back of a car trunk during a traffic stop in Buffalo, New York. The man was apparently going to cook the cat.Authorities said the incident began with a traffic stop on Sunday night. Officers had pulled over Gary Korkuc for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign when they heard a cat meowing. When they checked his truck, they found 4-year-old Navarro in a cage, and his fur was covered with oil, crushed red peppers and chili peppers.
Korkuc allegedly told police he was going to cook the cat for being ill-tempered.
The man has been charged with cruelty to animals. Animal advocates cleaned Navarro and put him up for adoption. It's not the cat's first time being put up for adoption - Korkuc adopted Navarro in May.
