Nature lovers are in for a treat because it will be "Fee-Free Weekend" at national forests, including some in Southern California. The San Bernardino, Angeles, Los Padres, and Cleveland national forests are offering a "back-to-school" free weekend Aug. 14 and 15.

A National Forest Adventure Pass will not be required for visitors in areas that typically require one.

San Bernardino National Forest supervisor Jeanne Wade Evans said "back- to-school weekend is a great way to connect communities with public lands all over the country."

Fee-free days are offered in cooperation with other federal agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Similar fee-free days include National Public Lands Day on Sept.25 and Veterans' Day on Nov. 11.

While the admission is free, other fees, such as those in campgrounds, reservation and group sites, are still required.
