Brush fire burns 25 acres in Apple Valley

Firefighters have contained a small brush fire that erupted Friday afternoon at the base of the Mojave River in Apple Valley. The blaze scorched 25 acres of of heavy brush.

San Bernardino County firefighters attacked the flames from the air, making helicopter drops. Crews plan to mop up the flames overnight.

The fire started near the Lewis Center School and Highway 18. No structures were threatened and there was no report of any injuries to fire personnel or civilians.
