KNIGHTDALE, N.C. --
It took a group of beekeepers to rescue a North Carolina sheriff's deputy from his patrol car on a highway in Knightdale on Tuesday. Authorities said Wake County Deputy Brandon Jenkins was stuck in his cruiser for several hours, as bees swarmed the car along Highway 264
. He admitted using deadly force when a few bees got inside.
Beekeepers sprayed the bees with water so they could be collected more easily. The confused bees were apparently left behind by a beekeeper, whose truck had broken down in the area.
An exit ramp was shut down for hours until all of the bees could be removed.
