Arrest made in Oxnard attempted kidnapping

OXNARD, Calif. Police say 18-year-old Calvin Bibian was driving a 1999 Honda Civic when he rear-ended a Cadillac Escalade at the intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Oxnard Boulevard, pushing it into another car. They say Bibian then punched the driver of the Escalade before fleeing the scene.

A few minutes later, Bibian was spotted at the intersection of C Street and Doris Avenue. Witnesses say that's where he got out of his car, broke out the windows of a woman's Volkswagen Beetle and unlocked her door. Police say a father and son who saw the attack came to the woman's rescue. Both men apparently tackled Bibian, but not before he managed to strike one of them in the jaw with a metal flashlight.

Police say none of the victims were seriously injured, but that Bibian had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Bibian faces charges of misdemeanor hit and run, misdemeanor battery, attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor drunk driving.
