Camarillo man struck and killed by train

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. It happened near the Camarillo train station.

The police department got a call about a "suspicious circumstance" at 30 North Lewis Road.

Deputies discovered the body of a Hispanic adult male lying on the railroad tracks.

Officials say there were obvious signs of extreme trauma and it appears the victim was run over by a train.

Investigators say it's unclear if it was an accident or a suicide.

An autopsy will be performed by the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.

Once the victim has been positively identified and next of kin has been notified the Medical Examiner's Office will release the name and other medical information.

As a result of the investigation, train service in Camarillo was stopped for about 3 hours, which included a passenger train.
