Gas smell prompts evacs at 3 Metro stations

LOS ANGELES The smell was detected just before 5 a.m. at the Wilshire-Western, Wilshire-Vermont and Pershing Square stations.

According to an L.A. Fire Department spokesman, the ventilation system was working incorrectly for a short time, causing stale air and odor in the stations. Once the fans began operating correctly and the odor diminished, passengers were allowed back inside the underground stations.

There were no injuries. The L.A. Fire Department continues to investigate the incident.
