Golf shot may have started Irvine brush fire

IRVINE, Calif. Investigators say the golfer at the Shady Canyon Golf Course was trying to hit a shot out of the rough Saturday when his club hit a rock. It created a spark that ignited nearby brush.

The fire took off, burning approximately 12 acres. About 150 firefighters were called in to bring the fire under control. No charges are being filed against the golfer, whose name is not being released.
