Documents reveal Faria Beach murder details

VENTURA, Calif. Joshua Packer, 20, was arrested in April for suspicion of robbing a Santa Barbara gas station. DNA taken from Packer was linked to the murder of Brock and Davina Husted, who were found stabbed to death in their home. Davina was pregnant. The couple's two children, 9 and 11, were home at the time of the murder, and managed to escape harm.

Recently released documents detail how Packer entered the house from the beach and demanded money and jewelry from the couple. Davina reportedly told her 9-year-old son to get money from her and her husband's wallets to give to the suspect.

After taking the money, the suspect and the couple went into the couple's bedroom after the couple allegedly made the suspect promise he wouldn't harm the boy, or their 11-year-old daughter who was sleeping in another room.

The 9-year-old boy retrieved his mother's purse for more money in hopes of making the suspect go away. He took it toward the bedroom, but retreated when he heard his mother scream from the room, the boy told Ventura County Sheriff's detectives. The boy then hid until the suspect left the residence.

Packer allegedly stabbed the couple repeatedly in the bedroom with a large knife taken from the kitchen.

Packer was wearing a black motorcycle helmet at the time.

Packer was arrested in April. He pleaded not guilty to robbery and murder in July. His trial is scheduled for March 1, 2011. Prosecutors have not said whether they will seek the death penalty.
