Dog treats recalled from salmonella concerns

Secaucus, N.J. Hartz Mountain Corp. of Secaucus, N.J. is recalling about 75,000 bags of dog treats Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs.

The 8-oz bags of dog treats were imported from a supplier in Brazil and have been distributed around the U.S.

According to the company, there have been no reports of illness in animals or humans.

Consumers with questions can contact Hartz at 1-800-275-1414.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
