Judge orders Metrolink settlement deposited

LOS ANGELES U.S. District Judge George Wu said Monday that he has yet to decide whether to approve the settlement and ordered further hearings on the matter.

The judge must give his approval before the fund can be distributed to victims of the crash.

Under terms of the settlement, both /*Metrolink*/ and Connex Railroad, the contractor that supplied its engineers, accept the maximum liability for the collision between the commuter train and a freight train.

The collision killed 25 people and injured more than 100. Investigators believe the Metrolink engineer was texting moments earlier and ran a red light.
