Man rescues gator, gets cited by officials

WEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. Alexander Alcantare spotted the gator in a canal behind his South Florida home with an arrow in its head.

When he tried to rescue the 7-foot gator, it bit him.

Alcantare continued, got the gator out of the canal and rode with it on his bike.

He called the /*Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission*/. They came out and cited him for having an alligator and a raccoon without a permit.

"Well, somehow I ended up with a citation and I've got to get a permit for my raccoon," Alcantare said.

This isn't the first time Alcantare has run into trouble helping animals.

Once, when he tried to rescue a bird's nest near some power lines, he got severely shocked and lost part of his arm.
