Kid Rock defending himself in '07 fight

Witness testimony has begun in the trial against Kid Rock, who is being sued by a man who claims the singer and five of his friends beat him up at an Atlanta Waffle House in 2007.Harlen Akins is seeking unspecified damages and $6,000 in medical fees.

Jurors saw surveillance video in court on Tuesday, but there is no sound so they couldn't hear what was being said.

Kid Rock's lawyer said the musician and his friends were defending themselves from Akins.

Akins' lawyer said the fight was over a girl in Kid Rock's group.

Kid Rock pleaded guilty in March 2008 to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery in the fight.
