O.C. burglary escalates to high-speed chase

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. The female suspect, driving a silver sedan, went on several different freeways as she evaded police.

At around 2 p.m., the driver eventually pulled over to the right shoulder of the 101 Freeway heading eastbound near the Van Nuys Boulevard exit.

Police surrounded the vehicle, with guns drawn. A cruiser parked right in front so the suspect could not flee again.

After speaking with the police briefly through the closed driver's side window, the suspect exited the car and surrendered to police. She was handcuffed immediately and taken into custody.

Jim Amormino of the /*Orange County Sheriff's Department*/ said she is suspected of stealing items from the mall but did not go into further detail about the burglary.
