Train runs over pedestrian in Pico Rivera

An investigation is under way in Pico Rivera where a man was run over by a train around 11 p.m. on Friday near San Gabriel Place and Hightree Street.

An investigation is under way in Pico Rivera where a man was run over by a train Friday night.The collision happened just before eleven p.m. near San Gabriel Place and Hightree Street.

The man was apparently lying on the tracks when he was hit by a Union Pacific train.

The conductor was not able to stop in time.

Investigators have not yet determined if the man was alive when the train hit him.

Earlier in September, two people were killed in Mission Viejo when they were run over by a train while they were sleeping on the tracks.

Also in September, there was a fatality in Riverside. In that incident, the victim was struck as she walked along the tracks.

Both incidents involved Metrolink trains.
