Rome's Colosseum up in flames for art project

ROME Giant projectors were used for the dramatic fiery illusion on Saturday, and it definitely looked real. The installation was seen by at least 100,000 people.

The project was designed by Danish artist Thyra Hilden and Argentinean artist Pio Diaz and cost nearly $700,000 to build.

The artists said the idea was to draw attention to the fragility of cultural heritage sites.

The /*Colosseum*/ was among the largest buildings in the Roman Empire. It is one of the seven wonders of the world and one of the city's most popular tourist attractions.
