Forest fire near 74 Highway fully contained

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. A forest spokesman said the fire burned about 38 acres. Around 200 firefighters remained on scene to douse hot spots.

The fire broke out Thursday afternoon in the mountains between Orange and Riverside counties, just half a mile from Ortega (74) Highway.

Officials said the blaze threatened structures near Blue Jay Campground and El Cariso Village.

Authorities said two firefighters suffered from heat inhalation. The fire closed the 74 Highway for several hours Thursday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
