LACMA's new hall garners celebrity attention

LOS ANGELES

The star studded event raised nearly $5 million for /*LACMA*/.

The lucky guests were given a private viewing of Resnick Pavilion and its three exhibits, including some rare carvings from Mexico.

Among the 1,000 guests were actors Don Cheadle, Tom Hanks and "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher.

"I think tonight is an important night to honor people who continue to foster the arts, and I think art in our lives is an amazing opportunity to access the purity that you sometimes forget in our busy crazy lives," said Hatcher.

Following the tour, guests were treated to dinner then a performance by singer Christina Aguilera.
