A /*California Highway Patrol*/ officer said a grey SUV hit the median and flipped over. A person had to be extracted from the vehicle.
The crash was reported to police around 9 a.m. Officials said a Hispanic man in his mid 30s died at the scene.
All lanes of the freeway were briefly shut down.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
