Budget cuts affect Long Beach Fire Department

LONG BEACH, Calif. Starting Friday, eight Long Beach fire stations will be subject to rolling brownouts, which means each fire station will lose one fire engine for a day on a rotating basis.

Good news is the ambulance or ladder, or both, are going to be on duty. However, there may be a delayed response time.

Station 9 was the first station to be affected. Other neighboring fire stations will have to help cover the areas affected by the brownouts.

Fire officials are not disclosing the other stations because of Homeland Security.
