When the employee went outside, the boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was sitting in a car he allegedly tried to steal, police said.
The boy left the car behind and ran from the scene, only to be found a few minutes later by police just east of Erringer Road, authorities said.
Police said they arrested the boy without incident.
No one was injured.
