Demi Lovato surprises kids at L.A. school

SOUTH LOS ANGELES Some third, fourth and fifth graders filed into the /*Grape Street Elementary School*/ auditorium, thinking they were there for a presentation honoring one of their teachers.

What they didn't know was that they were in for one big surprise.

Lovato performed for the kids as part of the national teacher advocacy program, "A Day Made Better."

For the second year in a row, Grape Street was picked.

The criteria to be chosen is simple: a need for school supplies and teachers spending money out of their own pocket to buy them.

Third grade teacher Beverly Harris was honored this morning.
