Universal's 'Dilemma' trailer causes stir

LOS ANGELES When the trailer began airing three weeks ago, complaints came into the studio about its use of the word "gay" as an insult. Now many groups are speaking out about it.

The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network released this statement: "'That's so gay' is an offensive phrase designed to use gay as a put down for something that is undesirable or uncool. In light of recent tragedies, we hope that we will all be more thoughtful about the impact that the language we use can have on others."

/*Universal Pictures*/ responded by releasing a statement that said, "The teaser trailer for the dilemma was not intended to cause anyone discomfort. In light of growing claims that the introduction to the trailer is insensitive, it is being replaced."
