Low testosterone may signal Alzheimer's

October 12, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Low levels of testosterone among men with memory problems could signal the onset of Alzheimer's disease or increase the risk for developing age-related dementia. Scientists in Hong Kong found that men with early memory loss and low levels of testosterone were more likely to develop the disease.

There are other predictors of early Alzheimer's like high systolic blood pressure and the presence of Apolipoprotein "E" Genotype, which is a genetic risk factor for the disease.
