Woman's body found behind Santa Ana bus bench

SANTA ANA, Calif. According to police, there were obvious signs of trauma to her body. A wheelchair was also found near the victim, who was identified by police as 57-year-old Rosemarie Sylvia of Santa Ana.

The body was discovered around 5:45 a.m. by a passerby approaching to catch a bus.

Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide, but they have yet to find out the identity of the victim. Authorities said the victim is believed to be in her 50s, but she had no purse and was not carrying any form of identification.

/*Santa Ana*/ police said there is typically a lot of foot traffic in the area where the body was discovered, and they hope someone with information will come forward.

"Potentially, it could have been a robbery. It could have been some kind of altercation. Possibly, she fell out of her wheelchair and did it to herself," said /*Santa Ana Police Department*/ Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

"At this point, we have nothing. So we're hoping that someone who was in the area or driving by might be able to provide us with some information," Bertagna added.

Authorities believe the woman may have been homeless. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
