'Smash and grab' thieves strike in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, Calif. Investigators say the suspects targeted Don Roberto Jewelers in the 400 block of East First Street at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday. One of the suspects smashed display cases while two others followed and grabbed several items of jewelry before running away, police said. The three were last seen leaving the scene and entering a newer model black Honda Civic, driven by a fourth suspect.

The suspects were described as in their early to mid-20s.

The men are suspected of staging a similar burglary on Oct. 8th at Valencia Jewelry & Loan at 202 W. 4th Street. Police say the suspects usually wear hooded sweatshirts.
