SANTA ANA, Calif. --
A man believed to have gunned down his estranged wife Saturday afternoon surrendered to police after hours of being holed up in his pickup truck threatening to commit suicide rather than surrender to police, authorities said.Police said the woman, 34-year-old Adriana Garcia, was shot several times in her Santa Ana home. Garcia had been kept on life support but was pronounced dead about 7:25 p.m.
Surrounded by Santa Ana police and the SWAT team, Jose Antonio Garcia, 36, locked himself inside the pickup truck for about four hours and threatened to shoot himself in the head.
Garcia gave himself up just before 8:30 p.m.
He was booked on suspicion of murder.
