A cat named Stewie from Reno, Nev., has been named the world's longest cat by Guinness World Records.Stewie measures 48-and a-half inches from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, which is just over 4 feet long.

Stewie's breed is a Maine Coon, also known as "gentle giants."

His owners, Robin Hendrickson and Erik Brandsness, say they decided to go for the record after so many people commented on his size.

The previous record was held by a Maine Coon that was exactly 4 feet long.
