Numbers in Calif. governor race favors Brown

LOS ANGELES Only one of the candidates was out on the campaign trail on Wednesday.

Meg Whitman visited a San Diego company that sells shoes on eBay, the company where she was the CEO before resigning three years ago.

Whitman said her experiences running the online auction site can be applied to California.

"Creating an environment where you keep regulations to a minimum, you keep taxes low, which were eBay fees and you watch entrepreneurs grow and thrive. It is an incredible model really for what we need to do to bring California back and to empower small businesses to be successful," said Whitman to applause.

Brown had no scheduled public events for Wednesday.

On Tuesday, both candidates appeared at a women's conference in Long Beach along with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The latest Eyewitness News Poll shows Brown leading Whitman by 46 to 38 percent, with 16 percent favoring other candidates or still undecided.
