Toddler struck by car while trick or treating

SOUTH LOS ANGELES The girl was with her family at the corner of 77th Street and Stanford Avenue in the Florence-Graham area of Los Angeles about 6:45 p.m. when the driver of a Toyota hit her head on and then fled the scene.

The toddler was taken to a local hospital.

The woman was hit in the hand but was not seriously injured.

The girl's shoe and candy basket could be seen on the street.

The little girl followed a 5-year-old across the street but was hit by the car.

Witnesses said the driver never even slowed down.

The Toyota is described as a red, late model 80s or 90s compact car.

Authorities said the car should have extensive front-end damage due to the collision.
