San Bernardino cop shoots armed man to death

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. Police said the officer tried to pull a man over for speeding, but he crashed his car into a tree at 17th and G streets and tried to run away on foot.

The man was allegedly carrying a handgun. Police said during the foot pursuit, the armed suspect turned toward the officer, and an officer-involved shooting occurred at 1:55 a.m.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Adrian Gutierrez of San Bernardino.

The officer, a 17-year veteran, was not injured.
