The queen of Jordan made a royal visit to Los Angeles Friday to help kick off a program that helps girls in developing countries.Queen Rania al Abdullah appeared at pep rally at the Marlborough School in Hancock Park to boost the United Nations' "Girl Up" campaign. It seeks to mobilize American girls to raise awareness and funds for programs providing girls in developing countries with the opportunities to go to school, have access to doctors and clean water, and stay safe from violence.
"It's a crisis affecting millions of girls your age and how they're robbed of their rights, their dignity and their futures every single day," the queen said.
Queen Rania called on the girls at the rally to do their part to support this important humanitarian effort.
