Police said they found Robert James Musgrove, 23, of Oxnard, had died as a result of the collision. He was alone in the car, according to authorities.
Officials said witnesses told police that Musgrove was traveling in a Nissan Altima eastbound on Sturgis Road aggressively trying to pass other cars before he collided with the pole.
Police said they are investigating the cause of the crash.
