Mom, daughter pedestrians killed in LA crash

LEIMERT PARK, Calif. Authorities said the two women were killed when a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck collided with a Volkswagen Beetle, and the Beetle slammed into them at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Coliseum Street around 3:30 p.m.

The two were taken to an area hospital, where the 89-year-old died immediately and her daughter died later in the evening.

The coroner's office did not immediately release the victims' identities.

The two drivers suffered minor injuries, and no arrests or citations were made. The crash was under investigation.
