8th-grade girl shot in South Gate

SOUTH GATE, Calif. According to the Los Angeles Unified School District, a female 8th-grade Southeast Middle School student was shot in the leg and was transported to a L.A. County-USC Medical Center.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Truba and Ohio avenues in South Gate.

Authorities arrested three suspects in connection with the shooting.

The girl was caught in the crossfire of a gang shootout, according to South Gate Police Dept.

The adult male suspects were positively identified by witnesses.
