Costs for Thanksgiving meal ingredients hike

LOS ANGELES The American Farm Bureau said the cost of many ingredients in the average Thanksgiving dinner went up a little more than half a dollar to $43.47.

The biggest increases were for milk and cream, but the price of a 16-pound turkey actually fell 99 cents.

More than 100 volunteer shoppers in 34 states took part in the 2010 survey. Since the survey contained basic ingredients such as bread, peas, cranberries and sweet potatoes, costs will be higher for shoppers who buy finished products such as pie.
