L.A.'s solar panel incentives low on funds

LOS ANGELES The Department of Water and Power is supposed to distribute $313 million from 2007 until 2016.

However, staff warns the solar incentive program's funds may not last that long and could be exhausted in two to three years.

On Friday, the Los Angeles City Council blocked cuts that had been approved by DWP's board, saying they're too drastic.

So far, the utility has given away $100 million in rebates.

Rebate applications have apparently surged in recent years due to federal tax credits.
