Burglary scam targets elderly O.C. residents

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. Several people claiming to work for the Water Department are getting into residents' homes and stealing cash and jewelry.

Police have released a composite sketch of one of the suspects, who is described as a heavyset Hispanic man, about 5 feet 3 inches tall.

Detectives said the suspects show up in uniforms, convince residents they need to test their pipes, and then steal valuables once inside.
