Christina Aguilera receives Walk of Fame star

LOS ANGELES The Grammy-winning singer was honored with the 2,423rd star, nine days before the release of her feature film debut in "Burlesque."

The big unveiling of the star happened steps from the Kodak Theatre with hundreds of fans there to cheer on the singer.

"Can I tell you how amazing it is to look around and see all of your fabulous faces here today? Thank you so much for coming out to support me and to support this amazing, incredible day in my life," said Aguilera.

Fans said they wouldn't have missed the event.

"I would not have made it through half of the experiences in my life if I didn't have Christina as an outlet in my life. I just seriously wouldn't. Her songs give us strength and encouragement to do everything and just be ourselves," said Candy Alvarez, a fan.

"Someone who can actually sing deserves a star before a lot of other people," said another fan.

Aguilera co-stars alongside /*Cher*/ in Screen Gem's picture "Burlesque," which premieres Monday night in /*Hollywood*/.

In addition to starring in the film, Aguilera wrote and recorded four new songs for the musical's soundtrack.

"Dream big everybody because, you know, I worked very hard for this moment and I want to thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to share it with all of you," said Aguilera.

Aguilera's star is located outside the Hard Rock Cafe.
