2 teens shot, 1 fatally, in Gardena

GARDENA, Calif. The two friends were walking on the 700 block of Gardena Blvd. Sunday at approximately 11 a.m. According to Los Angeles Police, a mid-size sedan approached them on the street and individuals inside began firing at the pair of teens.

L.A. resident Jose Davalos was struck in the head. His friend, who was not identified by police, was struck in the leg. The friend was taken to a hospital by someone in a private car. Police and fire department personnel responded to the scene and transported Davalos to a local hospital in critical condition. He died later in the hospital.

Police believe the incident was gang-related.
