An only child is a happy child

LONDON According to a family life study, happiness declined as the number of siblings in the household increased, pointing to factors such as competition for parents' attention and toys, treats and space.

On the questionnaire, nearly 30 percent of teenagers complained of being called bad names by siblings, while nearly 18 percent said they've had their belongings taken away by brothers or sisters.

The study will be published in "Britain in 2011, the State of the Nation."
