Carnival Splendor out of service until Jan.

SAN DIEGO

Miami-based Carnival Cruise Lines said the 925-foot Splendor, which was towed 150 miles into San Diego from waters off Mexico last week, will not be repaired and ready to sail again until Jan. 16.

It had been scheduled for nine voyages before then. Guests who had previously booked those cruises will get a full refund of cruise and air fares as well as a 25 percent discount on any future cruise.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the U.S. Coast Guard are working with Carnival to fully investigate the cause of the fire.
